Implementing Digital Data Asset Management (DDAM)

Implementing Digital Data Asset Management (DDAM)

Data hides enormous value, and as such data management is a tool not only to predict the future but actually creating the future.

To unlock the power of data, it is critical to understand how modern data management works and how institutions are using it to refine processes and achieve success. Any process can benefit from effective data management best practices, simply because all processes are interlocked and all rely on data.

The benefits of effective data management include almost everything one can think of – improved decision-making, improved stakeholder satisfaction, better operational effectiveness, and higher yield, be it financial or other.

“Asset management in general is an effort done to optimize the potential of a certain asset to achieve the goal, mission, and vision of an institution.”

So, it can be stated that DDAM supposes that data , and particularly learning data, is no longer a by- product of school activity and is no longer  considered part of school infrastructure with building and furniture. Data is a separate asset that, apart from being used to optimize the institution, is itself continuously optimized. Collecting and analysing data is no longer a laborious manual process, but highly automated.

Cerebral21 establishes the first community of professional School Chief Information Officers,

The School Chief Information Officer SCIO plays a crucial role, as he/she is required to supervise an effective data management process that forms the basis for decision making at leadership and governance levels.

Data Pooling

Cerebral 21 considers Data Pooling and Meta-Analysis, so that SCIOs can combine data sets coming from different sources. This can mean that multiple data sets containing information from different grade levels or departments or from different branches is merged into one data file. It can also mean that data of one student, coming from multiple domains such as e.g. academics and technology are combined together. In both cases pooling results in a fuller and more useful data set for scientific research.

Meta-Analysis is the statistical analysis of a large collection of analysis results from individual reviews for the purpose of integrating the findings.

Cerebral21 aims to design technologies meant to empower SCIOs develop strategies that keep schools relevant for the future.
